We are looking for an amazing candidate who will be responsible for working with IRRPP staff to design and implement a comprehensive training plan focused on all aspects related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and practical experience with creating and facilitating equity-focused workshops and trainings, engaging social justice pedagogy, as well as managing multiple projects.

About
the position:
The Program Director of Equity Education Initiatives is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive training plan as part of the partnership the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy (IRRPP) has with the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). The position will collaborate with IRRPP and IDHS leadership to organize training modules that provide education related to all aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Program Director of Equity Education Initiatives is responsible for developing and managing the projects related to the IRRPP & IDHS training lab.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Administrative.
- Foster relationships with IDHS staff members, committees, and departments to support the partnership between IDHS and IRRPP.
- Work with IRRPP Program Assistant to monitor and track the project’s expenses.
- Manage training budget.
- Supervise graduate students associated with the training lab.
Training/Programming.
- Work with IRRPP and IDHS staff to determine training needs and design a long-term training plan.
- Consult with IRRPP Director and Associate Director on the initiation and implementation of training plan and modules.
- Recruit and manage consultants.
- Serve as primary project manager for the IDHS training plan, including coordination of trainers and schedules.
- Manage the implementation of ongoing synchronous instructional sessions on structural racism and racial equity; create online asynchronous training on racism and racial equity in collaboration with IRRPP leadership.
- Facilitate follow-up sessions for asynchronous training modules as needed.
- Create and provide an on demand set of training modules available for IDHS staff upon request including a series of equity trainings, to be determined in partnership with IDHS (issues will include but not be limited to disability, gender, LGBTQ+, aging, evolution of language) and trainings to support IDHS-specific efforts (i.e., implicit bias trainings for NOFO writers and reviewers.
- Analyze research data and prepare various reports to present to IRRPP and IDHS stakeholders.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in workshop development and training with at least 3 years concentrated on facilitating workshops and trainings focused on diversity, equity and inclusion, justice, belonging, and/or accessibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Social Work, Public Policy, or related field is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with employees at all organizational levels and to develop effective working relationships with staff and a network of resources.
- Successful track record of prior experience related to project management including managing large, multi-dimensional projects.
