Position Description

The Program Coordinator leads the on-site coordination of food distribution programs, specifically the CSA, Farm Stand, Fresh Food Farmacy, Farm to School, and Donations at the It Takes A Village (ITAV) Community Farm. Other than food distribution, this person coordinates volunteers and supports farm production, most notably harvest. This is a seasonal position, March - October, at 25 hours/week.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the distribution of CSA shares at the ITAV Community Farm between May and October.
  • Lead and oversee the weekly Farm Stand at the ITAV Community Farm between June and October.
  • Lead and oversee the Fresh Food Farmacy and Farm to School distributions at the ITAV Community Farm between June and October.
  • Lead and oversee Donations at the ITAV Community Farm between June and October.
  • Coordinate individual volunteers and volunteer groups of all ages and lead farm tours, farm tasks, and opportunities for learning and healing.
  • Complete on-site administrative tasks as needed for each program.
  • Support weekly harvests and maintain food safety and quality control standards from field to family.
  • Support farm to table dinners, community events, off-site food distributions, and youth education on an as-needed basis.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support communication and outreach efforts for programming on an as-needed basis.

Outreach Associate - North Branch Works - Chicago

• The Outreach Associate is an important role in North Branch Works’ new nonprofit
capacity building program that was recently funded by the City of Chicago.

• The primary focus of this position is to connect with potential nonprofit partners in the following
neighborhoods: Avondale, East Garfield Park, Hermosa, Humboldt Park, Irving Park, Near West
Side, Garfield Park, and West Town.

• The Outreach Associate will lead the initial contact with these organizations and help strengthen
NBW’s network in West Side communities. This task will require research, virtual and in-person
meetings, phone calls, direct mail, and helping to provide technical assistance. The Outreach
Associate will build upon our asset map for West Side neighborhoods and further strengthen our
directory.

• The Outreach Associate will work closely with our Director of Business and Economic
Development to help nonprofit organizations identify and apply for grant opportunities that build
their capacity to deliver high-quality services and carry out their missions.

• The Outreach Associate will help NBW organize and deliver two webinars targeted to nonprofit
organizations in Q4 of 2022 and Q1 of 2023. This work may include opportunities for public
speaking, program development, event planning, and group facilitation.

• The Outreach Associate will participate in community roundtables and other meetings to identify
and partner with potential nonprofit partners.

• The position also requires updating records in Salesforce and adding new nonprofit partners.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position provides care to Schaumburg residents requiring intermittent home visits.  Using the nursing process, the essential core of practice, the registered nurse delivers holistic, client focused care. This position requires the registered nurse to work collaboratively with other village employees and area agency staff in assisting residents in challenging situations.    This position assists with employee and community clinics following standing orders, which are signed by the Public Health Advisor.  Nursing services are based on the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing Practice. 

The ideal candidate will need to effectively communicate to a full range of people, be able to work cooperatively and effectively with others to achieve common goals, and shift gears comfortably. JOB DUTIES:

  1. Acts as a consultant to residents, family members or guardians, employees, area agency staff regarding available services in the Schaumburg area.
  2. Collects and analyzes comprehensive data pertinent to the resident’s situation and identifies actual or potential health conditions or needs.  This may include the need for home assistance, medical equipment, connecting the resident to community resources or area agencies, and options for medication adherence.                           
  3. Coordinates care delivery by sending the physician the Client Status Information (CSI) form, if necessary, completing all verbal/written orders, updating the physician regarding changes in the resident’s condition, reporting adverse medication reactions, along with acting as an advocate.
  4. Promotes a healthy lifestyle and a safe environment by educating the resident regarding their medical condition, discussing disease prevention strategies, encouraging healthy behaviors, and steps to reduce the risks of a fall. 
  5. Offers screenings, immunization/wellness clinics, and educational programs to employees, residents, community groups, and independent living facilities.
  6. Contributes to an environment that is conducive to the clinical education of nursing students.    
  7. Participates in the interdisciplinary management of clients who live in a hazardous home site.
  8. Participates in emergency preparedness activities and assists with emergency sheltering or Point of Distribution (POD) operations, if needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is considered a civil fire prevention officer responsible for the effective enforcement of Village fire and life safety codes and ordinances through inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Position requires self-discipline, accurate scheduling, spontaneous problem resolution, excellent verbal and written communication skills, provision of expert testimony in courts of law, and working autonomously.  Shall occasionally be required to perform inspections and/or duties as designated, beyond and/or in addition to, the normal work day or work week. 

To succeed in this role the ideal candidate will need to effectively communicate to a full range of people and show the ability to problem solve efficiently.  We are looking to add a team member capable of prioritizing multiple projects and will need to shift gears comfortably and work cooperatively with others.  

JOB DUTIES:

1.       Responsible for understanding and applying Village of Schaumburg Code of Ordinances and any adopted codes and ordinances. 

2.       Performs inspections and fire systems tests of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and life safety codes.

3.       Organizes daily work schedule, and completes designated or scheduled inspections and/or assignments, prior to end of work day. 

4.       Investigates complaints and performs inspections as required to promote safety and prevent fire hazards.  Also responsible for contacting and notifying responsible parties involved, and assisting in resolving all code infractions to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances. 

5.       Provides technical assistance, correspondence, and/or notices, to the general public, Village personnel, property owners, and contractors.

6.       Issues warning notices, tickets and citations as directed, involving violations of the Village of Schaumburg Code of Ordinances, and/or other related Village adopted ordinances and codes. Maintains documentation and appears in court as necessary.

7.       Reviews job site plans/drawings for any discrepancy or deviation from Village approved plans/drawings.

8.       Utilizes special tools, instruments, equipment, etc. as necessary in fulfilling job duties or assigned tasks, as directed.

9.       Attends educational courses and seminars as needed in order to maintain certifications and licenses, or as directed.

10.   Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

1.       Associates Degree in fire science, building technology or closely related field.

2.       A minimum of two years of fire prevention or inspection experience.

3.       Certification in Fire Inspector I with the International Code Council or ability to obtain within one year date of hire. 

4.       Experience in a position involving customer service and customer complaint investigation skills.

5.       Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

6.       Proficiency with current computer software systems, including email, calendar programs, job specific software, and customer service systems preferred or within the first six months of employment.

5.       Capable to withstand heights, walk on roofs, maneuver around and/or through obstacles, construction materials, manufactured materials and/or equipment.

Workforce Partnerships Coordinator - City Colleges of Chicago

Under the direction of the WEI Executive Director, the Part-Time Coordinator-Workforce Partnerships will work collaboratively within the WEI team to identify, organize, maintain, and coordinate Olive Harvey College/Project Evolve partnerships with business, industry, and community constituents. Collaborates with WEI program staff to increase successful employment assistance of participants into high demand, high wage employment positions.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develops and Fosters professional relationships with industry partners, Advisory Committee members, community groups and students.
  • Reviews and maintains employer/student evaluations, progress reports and database.
  • Participates in course planning in an outcome-based format to ensure industry/partner alignment. In collaboration with Deans and faculty.
  • Works with the WEI Executive Director to proactively assist in identifying local, regional and national opportunities for creating public/private partnerships to support current and future Project Evolve student’s employment and career advancement efforts and training to enable students to secure the jobs of today and the future.
  • Manages relationships with non-profits (e.g., community-based organizations, other educational institutions, etc.) and government to support the project Evolve program efforts to secure employment or career advancement for students.
  • Monitors and helps develop outcome tracking metrics that confirm the value of programs and partnerships over time to assure that students and partners are achieving the stated goals.
  • Collaborates with all College departments and offices for seamless integration of the programs offered through project Evolve.
  • Serve as main point of contact for JFF and ICCB on the Employment Connection Project
  • Work with JFF to identify local employers
  • Participate in all ECP meetings hosted by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) and Jobs for the Future (JFF)
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to submit a midterm and final employer engagement plans to ICCB and JFF
  • Assist with reporting employment data to ICCB

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, Sociology or a closely related field, Master’s Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in academic/business/industry management. Some industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in job creation through a role in private industry, government, education, or a community-based organization. Deep understanding of private industry structure and staffing needs.
  • Familiarity with workforce preparation strategies, job search placement services, career and vocational education, adult learning principles, and multiple population groups

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Museum Educator works to develop, implement, and execute inclusive, intergenerational, educational, social justice and equity-driven training programs, workshops, events, and engagement. This position works under the supervision of the Program Director of Arts, Culture, and Public Policy.  The assistant educator will work with the NPHM programs team (Programs and Events Coordinator, Oral History Archive Manager, Entrepreneurship Hub Working Group), as well as interns, contractors, community partners, and resident-leaders. 

The successful candidate demonstrates a passion for and experience in program management, learning, and youth development. This position simultaneously helps coordinate program and session logistics while creating a safe, generative learning environment for youth, adults, and seniors, helping to cultivate meaningful connections between program participants and workshop leaders, and ensuring participants find value in the programs.

Candidates with previous experience with public housing as a resident and/or some other meaningful connection are preferred. The ideal candidate actively participates in resisting the privileging of dominant and mainstream narratives, values radical hospitality, and embraces diverse ways of seeing and knowing. Additionally, they will have a commitment to cultural activism and social justice, as well as a curiosity about storytelling as an act of resistance against white supremacy and other forms of oppression. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Help coordinate and communicate logistics to diverse groups of participants, as well as workshop leaders and partners for the Beauty Turner Oral History Academy, Entrepreneurship Hub, and other NPHM programs. 
  • Help develop and facilitate virtual training, workshops, events and other Museum engagement activities, including team-building, workshop debriefs and critique sessions. 
  • Build relationships with program participants, community partners, and resident-leaders.
    • Develop “Ambassadors” on social media platforms, such as admins of Facebook groups, to amplify museum announcements and outreach
  • Provide support to workshop leaders, trainers, and presenters.
  • Serve as a mentor, leader, educator, and guide to participants—youth, in particular.
  • Support evaluation and monitoring of program goals and outcomes. 
  • Help with data collection, data entry, file management and other administrative duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be Chicago-based, at present this position is primarily remote with some in-person work required
    • During the pandemic, most training, workshops, and events have been conducted virtually. To best engage the largest cross-section of our stakeholder community as possible, these types of programming will transition back to in-person as pandemic conditions allow. 
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for the history of public housing. Previous experience with public housing as a resident and/or other meaningful connection preferred. 
  • Commitment to cultural activism and organizing
  • Experience in successful project and/or program management
  • Exceptional oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Outstanding intergenerational relationship-building skills
  • Experience working in youth development and respect for young people
