Director of Development: Major Gifts

The Director Development: Major Gifts has primary responsibilities to partner with the Assistant Dean for Advancement and other College based development officers in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and leadership annual gift donors/prospects (both individual and organizational) in support of the educational and research mission of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Major gift prospects are defined as those individuals who have the capacity for gifts of $25,000 and higher. The Director of Development will maintain a prospect portfolio of 125- 150 individuals being actively cultivated and solicited and will regularly interact with development colleagues on strategies and "next steps" for building these relationships. The Director of Development is expected to conduct 150 visits a year and will implement cultivation and solicitation plans for assigned prospects as well as identify additional prospects on an ongoing basis. Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Five years experience in securing major gifts in a not-for-profit setting required, preferably in higher education. A thorough knowledge of planned and deferred giving is preferred. Excellence in communications, relationship building, integrity, and the ability to work with diverse constituencies is critical.
