INTERNSHIP PAID - Ravenswood Community Council (RCC)


Internship

Since 1958, the Ravenswood Community Council (RCC) has made Ravenswood one of Chicago’s premier communities in which to live and do business.  Founded to fight problems of crime and blight, RCC was one of the first urban conservation commissions in Chicago.  Today, the RCC pursues neighborhood beautification and community advocacy, business attraction and retention, and affordable and accessible housing for area residents.

Duration: 15-25 hours/week during the summer months.  Could evolve into Fall and Spring 2012-2013 internship with the right candidate.

Internship duties are mainly focused on the development and growth of the Ravenswood Community Council’s core initiatives in business retention and attraction, housing affordability and accessibility and neighborhood advocacy.

- Researching and canvassing potential community partners and businesses

- Developing maps of key constituencies, investment zones, and issue areas

- Conducting research of key community issues in housing, education, safety, and business development

- Maintaining social media presence (i.e. Facebook, Twitter)

- Assisting with grants research and development

The ideal candidate is expected to have strong research, writing and communication skills.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office, ARC GIS is a plus.  Compensation will be contingent upon qualifications and previous experience.
