The Chicago Department of Transportation is seeking to hire student interns to help plan bike lanes and establish a bike sharing program in Chicago.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Planning locations for bike sharing stations
• Conducting detailed field surveys to collect data needed for new bike lanes
• Identifying required upgrades to existing bikeways
• Assisting CDOT staff with other bike projects
Salary:
$8.25/hour for college freshman; $9.00/hour for sophomores; $10.00/hour for juniors; $11.00/hour for seniors; $12.00/hour for graduate students
Salary is based upon grade level completed at the time of hire.
NOTE: This is a temporary position. Students will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Must be a student in good academic standing currently enrolled in a regionally or nationally accredited college, university, or law school OR a student in good academic standing currently enrolled in an accredited business or data processing/information technology school. Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale or a 3.5 on a 5.0 grading scale.
(Disclaimer - "Accredited" means any nationally or regionally accredited college, university, or law school where the applicant is enrolled in or has completed an Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Juris Doctorate degree program.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Students majoring in Urban Planning. Experience with ArcGIS/ArcView, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Excel.
