The Andersonville Development Corporation fosters sustainable community and economic development in the
Andersonville neighborhood commercial district, located on the north side of Chicago. Through research, planning,
program development, and stewardship of the built environment, ADC supports the long-term economic, social, and

Position Title: Managing Director
Salaried, full time, exempt position
Start date: Summer 2011
Salary: $35,000 - $40,000/yr,. with competitive benefits package
Reports to: Executive director
Essential Functions:
Organizational administration and program development & management, with a focus on economic development,
environmental sustainability, and non-profit best practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee district sustainability initiatives, sustainability program coordinator, and eco-Andersonville committee.
Programs include:
• Sustainable Business Certification program
• Streetscape Recycling Program
• Events including Andersonville Green Week
• Green Building Incentive program
• Sustainability incentives including LED exit sign retrofits and CUB Energy Saver rewards
Manage research and mapping initiatives, including:
• Market data: annual updates of demographics, market studies, leakage, and constituent surveys
• Oversee maintenance of property database
Manage district development initiatives, including:
• Façade Incentive program
• Available property tracking & promotion
• Business attraction and technical assistance to individual businesses, providing market data, available space
information, sustainability consultation
• Property owner and commercial broker outreach
• Andersonville Historic District
Manage fundraising initiatives, including:
• Andersonville Wine Walk
• Andersonville Dessert Crawl
• Develop new fundraising initiatives as needed
• Continued research of grants and unique fundraising niches including consulting opportunities
Organizational administration
• Co-develop annual ADC budget and work plans
• Administer ADC government contracts
• Maintain ADC official records and documents
• Oversee ADC interns, volunteers, and staff
• Reports on ADC activities to ADC board, Andersonville Chamber board and Special Service area commission
• Assist with board meeting administration and financial reports
Communications and public outreach
• Oversee ADC communications including e-newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, and press releases
• Promote ADC and Andersonville to an assortment of local and national communities.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in urban planning, community development, sustainability or other relevant
field is preferred.
• At least three years’ relevant experience in one or more of these fields: economic development, community
planning, small business development & retention, environmentally friendly business practices, fundraising,
marketing, non-profit administration
• Demonstrably excellent skills in program administration and organizational management
• Experience in program development and management within non-profit or community organization
• Experience in successful outreach to a variety of constituencies
• Familiarity with Andersonville a plus
• Budgeting and financial oversight
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Demonstrably high level of self-motivation, ability to work effectively in a low-structure environment, and multitasking
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Facebook, Twitter. Experience with Constant Contact and
Joomla helpful.
