Job Announcement
POSITION TITLE: Building Development Assistant

PAY RANGE/GRADE: $40,000 to $50,000/year BENEFITS: Life, dental, and health insurance; two
weeks paid vacation and holidays; 401k with matching employer contributions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Building Management Assistant is to effectively assist with building
development projects within the LUCHA guidelines and operating objectives. The position will be
responsible for assisting with the rehabilitation of existing buildings, the development of new projects,
management of current construction projects, and general administrative tasks to help LUCHA develop
and maintain decent and affordable housing.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with community organizers and community leaders in planning of new developments.
2. Research development options and determine feasibility (scattered site, rehab, new construction).
3. Research development financing and equity sources.
4. Assist with financial modeling and analysis for future developments.
5. Create requests for proposals for development team/consultants and negotiate contracts.
6. Management of pre-development activities.
7. Negotiate terms and conditions for acquisition of properties.
8. Prepare tax credit, grant, and loan applications.
9. Assist with negotiating and securing sources of development financing.
10. Assist with coordination, review, and completion of documents for closings.
11. Prepare and submit compliance reports to financial institutions and funding agencies.
12. Review and submit required documents for funding payouts.
13. Assist with relocation efforts per the Uniform Relocation Act including recruiting landlords for
available units and inspection of units, coordination of moves, management of rental assistance
payments, and ensuring compliance with guidelines.
14. Coordinate and assist with community and political support efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS: Finance, real estate, or urban planning masters degree preferred. Bilingual English/
Spanish preferred. Familiarity with City of Chicago and State of Illinois agencies and programs a plus.
Good communication, writing, computer and organizational skills necessary. Must be able to work with
persons of various ethnic and economic backgrounds; willing to work flexible hours. Access to a car with
valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is preferred.
