Internship Opportunity:
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is looking for prospective interns interested in financial management processes and systems, public policy or public administration to assist with GFOA’s technology consulting practice. Interns will also have the opportunity to gain experience in other aspects of GFOA’s Research and Consulting Center, including other management consulting disciplines.
Prospective interns must possess an interest in state and local government, and demonstrate excellent communication and analytic skills. Prior experience with or knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, business process documentation tools, and awareness of ERP systems is also required.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
1)
Assist GFOA consultants on delivery of technology consulting tasks, research for projects, and other consulting engagements;
2)
Assist with ongoing research projects in budgeting for outcomes (BFO), business process improvement methodologies, and performance management;
3)
Develop an article for GFOA’s membership journal, Government Finance Revew, based on experiences and research results;
4)
Conduct work on other research or consulting projects as assigned.
Interns are expected to work approximately 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule at GFOA’s downtown Chicago office for 10 weeks this summer. Ideally, the internship would start in mid to late June. Internships in this area pay $15/hr. If interested, please forward (email preferred) resume and writing samples by June 15, 2011.
