Summary 

Works with MARTA staff in Transit System Planning, External Affairs, Marketing, Facilities Maintenance, Safety, Bus Operations, Information Technology, and others to address issues related to bus stops. Conducts field investigations and prepares work orders to respond to issues identified at bus stops.  Prepares documentation and conducts analysis related to bus stop issues and projects.  Responsible for maintaining attribute data and collecting GPS coordinates for the bus stop database.

GPA is currently seeking an Associate Biologist to join our dynamic team of biologists and environmental planners in Sacramento or El Segundo, California.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate will have either:
  • At least 3 years performing at a level equivalent to that of a Biologist; and
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Biology, Botany, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related field. 
General Duties:
The chosen candidate will complete a range of biological studies, including research, field surveys and assessments, technical reporting, regulatory permitting and approvals, construction monitoring, restoration, and project management.
SUBJECT AREA KNOWLEDGE:
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Knowledge of the flora and fauna of California, including (but not limited to) coastal, desert, valley, and aquatic communities;
  • Experience with habitat assessment and identification of avian, mammalian, amphibian, piscine, and reptilian species;
  • Experience with plant identification in California and plant survey methods
  • Expanded abilities in plant identification, focused rare plant surveys, and focused wildlife surveys desired;
  • Experience with wetland and other jurisdictional delineations, including (but not limited to) areas under jurisdiction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife Service;
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to biological resources, including (but not limited to) the National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Executive Order 11990, California Environmental Quality Act, and California Fish and Game Code;
  • Experience with federal and state regulatory permitting process for waterways, including (but not limited to) Clean Water Act Section 404 Permits, Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certifications, and California Fish and Game Code Section 1602 Streambed Alteration Agreements; and
  • Experience with consultation and coordination with federal and state agencies, including (but not limited to) endangered species consultation and coordination during regulatory permitting; and
  • Understanding of Geographic Information Systems mapping and analysis in the context of biological resources studies, ability to perform mapping and analysis desired.

Minimum Requirements:

Senior Architectural Historian
GPA Consulting, a California Corporation that specializes in historic preservation planning, is seeking a qualified Senior Architectural Historian with a strong background in preparing Section 106 documentation to join our diverse team of professionals. The successful candidate will be able to prepare all manner of Section 106 reports with little or no supervision. They will also be able to manage others and help them master the Section 106 process. Experience managing federal contracts is strongly preferred. Experience with other aspects of historic preservation, such as CEQA reports, Mills Act applications, HABS/HAER documentation, large-scale surveys, etc., is also desirable. Many of our projects are transportation-related and involve FHWA and Caltrans. Experience working with these agencies is a plus. Ability and willingness to travel is a requirement of the position.

Duties:
Project Management
  • Track project budgets and expenditures
  • Report to Principal on project schedule and budget
