Capacity Building Analyst at Feeding America

The Capacity Building Analyst will leverage data to advance Feeding America’s capacity building services. Through working with internal Feeding America colleagues and food bank leaders across the country, this role will drive data-informed decision making to build sustainable capacity at food banks and improve food security for everyone struggling with hunger across America, especially communities most disproportionately impacted by food insecurity. The analyst will promote ease of access to and use of data through actionable analytic insights and visualizations for a variety of end users.

This position is based out of Feeding America’s Chicago office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day “work anywhere” program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.  

Salary Range: $78,000 to $83,000 Based on Experience

Data Strategist, City Colleges of Chicago - Chicago, IL

The District office is where the administrative and executive offices are located. We are conveniently situated in the loop, on the corner of Jackson and Franklin, across the street from Chicago’s main attraction and one of the tallest buildings in the world, Willis tower, formerly known as Sears Tower. 


The Data Strategist plays a significant role in institutionalizing a continuous improvement and performance-based culture at City Colleges of Chicago, and ensuring fact-based accountability at program, employee, and system-levels. 

  • Provide data and analytic support: Monitor District and College strategic metrics through performance dialog forums. Identify insights and implications from institutional data and make strategic recommendations to executive and senior staff. 
  • Facilitate performance metric monitoring: Work with a staff at different levels of the organization on metrics and analysis; use operational data in real time to develop and execute action plans focused on improving institutional practices, policies, procedures and ultimately student success. 
  • Work cross-functionally across the organization: Maintain cross-functional visibility across all departments to help push strategic initiatives forward and surface critical issues. 
  • Develop and refine institutional data capacity and use: Work with colleges, departments and teams to develop and analyze meaningful performance metrics and data. Provide ongoing oversight and support to ensure that measures are being used to effectively manage operations and effect institutional change. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
 

Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor’s degree including quantitative coursework required; master’s degree in Business, Public Policy, Law or Education Management preferred. 
  • Three years plus of professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility; successful track record at role requiring data analysis, consultative skills, and relationship management. 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and data management skills including the ability to combine complex datasets, identify and conduct appropriate analysis. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of effectively communicating data and details clearly and accurately to non-technical audiences. 
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills. Must also be capable of manipulating large datasets; familiarity with Access and statistical analysis software a plus. 
  • Knowledge of critical issues in education and understanding of education performance data 
  • Intense intellectual curiosity and desire to get to the root cause. 
  • Strategic thinker able to generate actionable insights and make recommendations to a variety of audiences and improve institutional practices, policies, and procedures. 
  • Team player comfortable working with a variety of people and capable of leading a group towards a common goal; ability to build trusting relationships and function effectively with internal departments and staff and external partners and audiences. 
  • Flexible and comfortable working on a variety of assignments at a given time. Able to balance competing priorities and deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and relationship building required; prior experience supporting and advising executive management a plus 
  • Willingness to travel frequently to schools and other City Colleges of Chicago locations. 
  • Prior project management experience and/or experience in education preferred
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
