Managing Director, Urban Analytics at Center for Neighborhood Technology

Description
The Managing Director of Urban Analytics plays a pivotal role in leading and advancing analytical capabilities to drive informed decision-making in advocating for and creating equitable, sustainable, and resilient neighborhoods. This key leadership position will contribute to our mission by utilizing data-informed insights to influence strategic initiatives, policy advocacy, and community-driven programs.
The Urban Analytics team serves as CNT’s analytical arm, offering vital support to both CNT’s programs and mission-aligned partners. This position will lead a team of seasoned staff with diverse backgrounds in physics, public health, urban planning, environmental justice, computer science, and full stack web design. This team has led projects related to transportation equity, air quality and the development and maintenance of CNT’s acclaimed tools (i.e. H+T Index, AllTransit, ETOD tool, Urban Flooding Baseline, and the Green Values Calculator). The team’s core competencies and skills cover a wide range, including GIS and statistical analysis, data visualization, and user experience skills for creating effective web tools and print materials including the management and maintenance of the technical infrastructure needed to support our projects.

Managing Director - Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council

Who: The Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council (CMRC) is a program of Manufacturing Renaissance (MR). MR is a Chicago based nonprofit nonpartisan organization, founded in 1982. Manufacturing Renaissance focuses its work to build thriving, sustainable communities by connecting them to manufacturing through education, training and local ownership. The Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council was formed in 2005 under a shared vision for sustainable and restorative development oriented towards advanced manufacturing. It is a private-public partnership of top leaders from manufacturing, labor, education, community-based organizations and local government. In addition to the CMRC, MR’s signature programs are Manufacturing Connect and the Ownership Conversion Project.  


What: The Managing Director provides overall leadership to the CMRC in continuing to advance its mission, by guiding the efforts towards reaching its short-term objectives and long-term goals. She/he ensures that the CMRC becomes a leading regional organization in promoting, supporting, and advocating “for programs and policies that strengthen our regional manufacturing sector while increasing social inclusion and the strength of communities” (CMRC Mission, Vision, Values statement).  The Managing Director provides direction to the work of the CMRC committees in full and active consultation with the CMRC Executive Committee. The Managing Director reports directly to Manufacturing Renaissance’s Executive Director. Essential duties and responsibilities include:  
1. Gather and communicate data and news related to the manufacturing industry and its relationship to the broader society;  
2. Manage and meet financial objectives of the CMRC through securing contracts, donations and grants;  
3. Maintain communication with CMRC members and the CMRC Executive Committee on a regular basis;  
4. Implement the annual Operations Plan developed by the Executive Committee; and manage and track the workflow of the individual committees as well;  
5. Establish a communications and marketing strategy in collaboration with the Communications and Organizing Director, by increasing brand image and appearance on all type of media;  
6. Sustain existing partnerships and explore new opportunities to expand the operations and membership base of CMRC; and  
7. Ensure that all meetings are well prepared and recorded, and provide effective supervision for administrative and support staff 


Qualifications:  
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree preferred  
• Direct experience in manufacturing, education, and/or workforce development  
• Minimum of 10 years of community relations, external affairs, policy, and public relations experience  
• Minimum of 3 years in a leadership/senior/executive role  
• Excellent communications skills – written and verbal  
• Able to demonstrate high-level of initiative and professionalism  
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Office, Constant Contact and preferably Salesforce  
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a dynamic environment  
• Ability to adapt quickly to challenges and manage several projects at once  


Benefits: This is a full time non-exempt position, requiring some flexibility of schedule to work as needed in the evenings and on weekends. Salary is commensurate with experience. Full benefits package is provided after 1 month of full employment, and 401k plan after 6months.

Managing Director, Greater Greater Washington - Washington, D.C.

Managing Director

Greater Greater Washington is growing from an organization with one part-time employee to three full-time employees. This opens up exciting new possibilities but also requires us to build our organization and sources of support to make that level sustainable, and hopefully grow beyond as well. We need a Managing Director to take primary charge of fundraising, staff, and day-to-day office operation.
The Managing Director will:
  • Develop, supervise, and mentor the Staff Editor and Community Engagement Manager on a day-to-day basis to ensure that they have a clear work plan and the resources they need to succeed; write regular performance reviews in consultation with the Board of Directors
  • Create plans to increase contributed and earned revenue, track existing sources of revenue, and execute on plans with assistance from the Board of Directors and other volunteers
  • Manage the daily operations of the organization such as monitoring spending and income, and securing office space, computers, and other basic needs of the organization
  • Guide, encourage, and recruit volunteer members of our editorial board to continue to steer the website's direction, contribute content, and handle specific portfolios of responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the Founder and President as well as other board members to guide the strategic direction for the organization
  • Staff meetings of the Board of Directors and assist the board in recruiting new members
Candidates must have:
  • At least four years of experience in small nonprofit organizations including experience with organizational development
  • At least three years of experience with fundraising for nonprofits including creating and implementing fundraising plans, ideally including experience fundraising from foundations, corporate sources, and developing earned revenue. Experience with Washington-area philanthropy is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to work with board members and volunteers with a wide range of personalities to keep them engaged and interested and mediate interactions as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills
  • Talent for thinking strategically and ability to balance immediate and long-term priorities
  • Ability to work independently, without day-to-day direction from others, and to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Understanding of and experience with multiple parts of the Washington region in DC, Maryland, and Virginia
  • A passion for urban planning and transportation, a deep desire to see more vibrant walkable places in a growing and inclusive region, and some understanding of the policy issues behind it; having regularly read Greater Greater Washington for a substantial period of time is a strong plus

Position Summary:
Phipps Neighborhoods in collaboration with the New York City Department of Education is leading the creation of community schools throughout the Bronx. The Community School model will bring together a strong and active set of partners to address the needs of schools and the surrounding community and employ a governance structure that relies on strong collaboration and interaction.
In order to maximize our ability to provide communities with the resources needed to increase opportunities, strengthen neighborhoods and transcend poverty, Phipps Neighborhoods programs work through a community impact model. Community Schools are an important component of that model. The Managing Director of Community Schools will be a critical change agent who will work with partner schools to leverage Phipps Neighborhoods and other local services in order to ensure student success.
The Managing Director will be a senior member of the Phipps Neighborhoods leadership team and will collaborate with Phipps Neighborhoods staff, school leadership and other stakeholders to implement a model where all resources are directed towards student achievement. To that end, the Managing Director will lead a team of community school directors, each working within a public school, and support in their charge of implementing a comprehensive community school strategy. Community school staff members work in a team structure, where they collaborate every day to meet students' needs and to learn from one another. Teachers, school administration, CBO staff and other community stakeholders collaborate to make the school work for our students and families. The Managing Director of Community Schools will ensure that our partner principals and community school directors have the strategy and tools they need in order to build this collaboration into the fabric of all our schools.
Job Description
Phipps Neighborhoods seeks a full-time Community School Director to fill this position. Responsibilities include:
  • Manage the Community School model and supervise all community school partnerships at Phipps Neighborhoods
  • Work closely with the Phipps Neighborhoods Senior Director to ensure all community school components are implemented strategically and effectively at all of the partner schools. These components include: Extended learning and academic support, health and mental health service, family engagement, and community partnerships
  • Build positive and trusting relationships between school principals, community school directors, and all relevant school and CBO stakeholders
  • Supervise (school based) community school directors and central office community school staff members
  • Provide leadership and direction to community school directors in their efforts to develop, deepen and coordinate community partnerships with varied community based organizations and service providers
  • Build high level relationships with community partners including those that may provide subcontracted services and broker those relationships to various Phipps Neighborhoods community schools
  • Work with principals and community school directors to ensure each school has an effective Extended Learning (ELT) time program
  • Work with principals and community school directors to ensure each school has an effective mental health program for students
  • Manage the agency's cumulative community school budget and support community school directors in the management of local school budgets
  • Build and maintain relationships with school principals, DOE central office staff members and ensure effective collaboration among those individuals and Phipps Neighborhoods
  • Assist the Senior Director and Executive Director with grant writing and other fundraising efforts
  • Observe and evaluate staff performance and provide and / or facilitate ongoing relevant professional development for staff
  • Participate in the data collection, management and analysis on student outcomes, and use data regularly for continuous improvement of the program model
  • Plan and lead Town Halls, Community School partnership meetings and other formal spaces for planning and community input (including evenings and weekends)
  • Engage families and caregivers in supporting the education and social-emotional well-being of their children
  • Serve as a champion for the implementation of the Phipps Neighborhoods Theory of Change which is to break the cycle of poverty by enhancing education achievement, career readiness and access to important community resources
Qualifications/Experience:

The ideal candidate will be high-energy leader, with a passion for helping all young people succeed, and have a track record of strong management skills. The Managing Director must possess exceptional writing, speaking, interpersonal and organization skills and must be a great representative of Phipps Neighborhoods and our partner schools. Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities is a must. Finally, he/she should be a pro-active leader and have successful experience working in a fast paced and highly outcomes focused youth development environment such as a school or other type of youth service agency.
Required:
Master's degree in Education, School Counseling, Social Work, Public Policy, or a related field5+ years of relevant experience, including at least one year experience working in an urban school or other youth development environment
Evidence of culturally competent practices and familiarity with NYC non-profits and social servicesAbility to work collaboratively with a diverse staff, student body and families, as well as a team of professionals at the school and across the organization
Experience using student data to guide practice
Preferred:
