The Brooke-Hancock-Jefferson Metropolitan Planning Commission (BHJ) in Steubenville, Ohio, is seeking to employ a full-time Transportation Planner.Located 30 miles west of Pittsburgh, PA, BHJ is a two-state MPO with asignificant learning/career growth experience.
Job Duties: The selected candidate will provide the following services.
  • Collect, update and expand BHJ’s transportation need and modeling information through an established geographic information system.
  • Manage a year-round traffic count program.
  • Gather, prepare and publish traffic and accident information.
  • Identify and prioritize local transportation investment needs.
  • Gather, prepare and publish technical and conceptual design documents.
  • Participate in travel demand modeling. 
  • Facilitate public meetings and coordinate work with local, state and federal agencies.
Salary Range: Negotiable. Dental, life insurance and health care package included. BHJ is a member of the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS).
Required Education and Experience:A Bachelor’s Degree in city planning, engineering or related field and knowledge of GIS mapping software.
