Program Coordinator, Department of Urban Planning & Policy, UIC - Chicago

The Department of Urban Planning and Policy (UPP) in University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is looking for a temporary Program Coordinator for the Undergraduate Program in Urban and Public Affairs (UPA), this may lead to a permanent, full time position. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating and organizing programmatic activities in the teaching, research and service mission of the Department.

Position duties include:
1) The Program Coordinator will be independently responsible for the coordination of student,
academic, and alumni programs and projects developed by the UPA program, under the direction of the
UPP Head and Director of Undergraduate Studies. This will include acting as a liaison between the Program and its current and prospective students, as well as College-level and University-level administrators, and alumni; act as a liaison between the UPA office, business, and support staff of the College and Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and the Office of Admissions and Records as required.
2) The Program Coordinator will assist in the formulation of student, academic, alumni affairs management policies, and assist the Director in implementing the day-to-day management of student, academic, and alumni affairs program-level activities, including general office administration.
3) The Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating meetings, developing and delivering workshops and orientations relevant to the Program.
4) The Program Coordinator will coordinate general administrative functions of the Program, as well as independently manage the student admissions and student recruitment processes of the Program, as well as preparing reports for Academic Affairs, and organizing alumni information and events.
5) The Program Coordinator will assist the Director of Undergraduate Studies with periodic program reports to College and University administration.
6) The Program Coordinator will monitor the program’s website, notifying of any necessary changes, maintain the Program's student and applicant databases, write newsletters, and assist with proposals as needed.
7) Under the supervision of the Director of Undergraduate Studies, the Program Coordinator will manage the student admissions process, student recruitment, and program-level student services including the maintenance of student records.
8) The Program Coordinator will represent theHead as designated, at meetings with other administrative units of the University.
9) The Program Coordinator will supervise designated student and temporary employees and coordinate special projects.
10) Perform other program-related duties as needed and assigned.

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 2 years of related work experience in a business or educational environment, as well as strong written and oral communications skills required. Database management skills required. Strong computer skills required, with some web design/administration experience preferred. Manage information and program data using computing systems. Knowledge of educational administrative technology and systems preferred. Excellent communication skills, both in listening and speaking, reading and writing; be sensitive to human differences, bilingual (knowledge of a spoken language of minority students/community members served is preferred, but not required).
