The University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director in the Office of Career Services. The University of Illinois at Chicago is a large, urban public research one institution with a highly diverse student population. The Assistant Director position is a full-time (100%) 12-month appointment.
The position focuses on developing and administering programs that provide students with the necessary information and tools (e.g. effective resume writing, interviewing techniques, and work habits to gain employment and prepare for long-term career success.
Collaborate with university academic units, employers, student affairs committees and professional organizations, to create and deliver career preparation workshops, seminars, and programs for the purpose of teaching students effective job search techniques.
Develop and implement strategies to provide opportunities for students to participate in employer internship programs.
Reach out to prospective employers and alumni to ascertain in-demand skills and experience.
Identify, forge, and maintain strong relationships with alumni, recruiters and employers to provide students with opportunities for attaining internships and full-time employment.
Plan and coordinate annual campus job fair, linking students with prospective employers.
Participate in special projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in liberal arts or related field required. Masters degree preferred. Minimum of four years experience in career development, preferably at the university level. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong planning, presentation, and project management skills.
