Planning and Community Development Coordinator


DUTIES: 



Performs routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional work in the field of planning. Performs administrative, professional, and technical work involving various elements of the City planning process and Community Development Block Grant Program and other grant programs; performs adaptable planning functions to include land use studies, processing of subdivision proposals and rezoning requests, historical preservation, recreation, and other City activities as directed.



SALARY:
 Minimum starting salary $43,284 and excellent benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Urban Planning or related field as well as two years experience preferred in city and regional planning, experience in working with and meeting people; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
·      Thorough knowledge of community planning process, practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated mastery of the methods of conducting research and field surveys required for the collection, tabulation and evaluation of data.
  • Must have working knowledge in use of computers and GIS applications.
  • Skill in writing grant proposals
  • Skill in reading, understanding and interpreting the intent and purpose of federal grant programs and regulations.                       
·       Skill in reading and interpreting legal property descriptions and plat maps.
·      Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
·      Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public
·      Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and keep accurate records
·      Iowa residency required
Must pass physical and drug screen, and background check prior to hire
