LIAA is a nonprofit service organization dedicated to building better communities through civic engagement. For 20 years, we have helped citizens, civic groups, other nonprofits, and local units of government use advanced information technologies and community development techniques to improve planning and resource management throughout Michigan and elsewhere.
We seek an experienced, highly-creative professional with strong leadership and strategic thinking skills for a newly created Community Planner position. The Community Planner will help LIAA provide the best multi-jurisdictional land use planning and community development services available in Michigan. The person in this position will help cities, townships and counties work together in developing more sustainable, healthy urban environments that preserve Michigan’s natural resources while building greater community resilience.
We provide a reasonable salary (salary range: $36–50K, depending on experience and education), good benefits, great colleagues, a comfortable work environment, and meaningful causes worth working for. All of this in one of the most beautiful locations on earth.
The successful candidate will be a creative and engaging person with several years of experience and truly excellent communication skills. We prefer a person with two or more degrees in relevant areas such as: ecosystem and natural sciences; landscape architecture; community development; urban planning and design. We require advanced technology skills. Applicants with AICP and/or ASLA credentials are preferred.
