General Overview
The Sr. Financial Accountant is responsible for the financial and tax reporting of Rotary International. This role works with colleagues across functions to gather information for financial analysis and reporting.
Education
Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent
CPA preferred

Specific Duties
Responsible for the preparation of the monthly RI financial statements
Review financial information for reasonableness
Work with colleagues across all functions to investigate and explain variances
Present financial results in monthly review meetings
Coordinate, review and reconcile monthly intercompany expense allocations. Prepare adjustment entries as needed.
Provide support for year-end close and external audit, audited financial statements, annual report, and Treasurers Report for the International Convention
Conduct training sessions on year-end administrative expense accruals for RI staff and provide continuous support
Review, record, and monitor RIs year-end administrative expense accruals
Prepare schedules and support for IRS Form 990 (Exempt Income Tax Return), IRS Form 990-T (Report of Exempt Organizations Unrelated Business Income Tax), and IL-990-T (Illinois Exempt Organization Return). Perform associated tax research as necessary.
Monitor strategic initiatives expenses by working with Financial Business Support and project managers/coordinators
Monitor board designated funds and prepare adjustments to board designated net assets in accordance with financial policies
Maintain and improve existing reports in PeopleSoft nVision. Provide support in the maintenance of the reporting structure in PeopleSoft by working with Financial Business Support and Financial Systems Analyst.
Provide support for committee meetings
Proactively review new accounting updates/pronouncements and make recommendations to changes in procedures accordingly

· 5+ progressive accounting experience
