Candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in either Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Public Policy and/or a related degree. 
Qualifications:

  • Well versed in the entitlement of large projects.

The Robert Bosch Foundation and Cultural Vistas invite US professionals to apply for the 2015-2016 Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program. Bosch Fellows work as consultants in their field of expertise at leading public or private institutions in Germany.  In addition, Bosch Fellows participate in professional seminars, where they travel to meet and exchange ideas with key figures across Germany and Europe. Responsibilities
The Senior Transportation Planner is accountable for providing senior transportation planning expertise and leadership to projects of medium/higher scope in support of a designated program related to transportation policy, forecasting, infrastructure / service development or engineering in an integrated, multi-modal environment.

  • Develops and manages relationships with stakeholders to understand needs, keep them informed and resolve moderate issues.  Provides senior technical support and advice to municipal/provincial working teams and advisory committees.
  • Oversees contractors and consultants, providing work direction and monitoring contract compliance.
  • Provides technical guidance to other planning professionals, including involvement in development and performance management.
  • Performs related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the job.
Qualifications
The competencies for the position would typically be acquired through a Master’s degree in planning, engineering or a related discipline, and 3 - 5 years’ experience providing an advanced level of expertise and leading projects in an agency specializing in planning or transportation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Organizational Role: TransLink’s planning responsibilities encompass a full range of areas including policy, corridor/major investment analysis, project development and design, research and forecasting, and regional multimodal plan development. This position is part of the Strategy & and Plan Development (SPD) team, within TransLink’s Department of Strategic Planning and Policy. SPD is responsible for the development of TransLink’s long-range strategy (most recently adopted as the Regional Transportation Strategy Strategic Framework in 2013) and TransLink’s 10-Year Investment Plan. The 10-Year Investment Plan is planned for updating in 2015, to be informed by the Investment Vision adopted in June 2014 by the Metro Vancouver Mayor’s Council on Regional Transportation. To develop these plans, SP&D works closely with other TransLink departments and operating companies, as well as partner agencies and other external stakeholders.

The S&PD work program includes activities in the following areas: funding and financial analysis in a public sector transportation context; stakeholder engagement and process (including with municipal and other partner governments); consultation and communications; regional planning outcomes assessment and presentation; major investment planning; and other areas relevant to the development of medium-term and long-term plans and strategies.

Other qualifications include:  knowledge of basic legal principles of land development and zoning; knowledge of form-based codes and New Urbanism; attention to detail; compliance with time-sensitive deadlines; clear and timely communication with a variety of stakeholders; strong prioritization and negotiation skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
Education and Certification requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Planning, or related field, from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's Degree in Planning or related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related experience.  Current planning experience for a local government desired.  Salary $52,691.
