Program Coordinator - Center for Strategic & International Studies (D.C.)

Who: Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity.

What: A new program at CSIS, the Humanitarian Agenda, seeks to leverage the humanitarian community, help shape U.S. government strategic planning and policies, and increase understanding of both the vast challenges and new innovations in humanitarian efforts. Through public and private events, a congressional task force, and policy briefs, the program will examine opportunities for improving the delivery of humanitarian assistance and coordination between relevant actors. As a new, center-wide initiative, the program aims to integrate the full strength of CSIS experts into one central program.

CSIS’s Humanitarian Agenda is seeking an energetic and organized Program Coordinator to start in late May/June 2018. The successful candidate will be both a self-starter and a team player, possess exceptional communication skills, and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The position reports directly to the Director of the Humanitarian Agenda.

Responsibilities cover the spectrum of project management from leading logistics for events to interacting with senior officials. Tasks include fostering relationships with key partners, preparing background materials, and planning a day-long conference. The Program Coordinator will also conduct research on current events in humanitarian assistance, with an emphasis on humanitarian access, humanitarian diplomacy, and U.S. policy and leadership. This opportunity will manage and coordinate child health grant funded projects, focusing primarily on immunization and other child survival health priorities. International and domestic travel (25%) and weekend work will be required to execute the proper development, implementation, and management of programmatic activities in collaboration with our international partner agencies and funders. Back “home” in Elk Grove Village, this position will manage the development of a global immunization Project Advisory Committee (PAC) and Project Technical Advisory Group by building relationships with other national pediatric society leaders and strengthening the communication between leaders and AAP technical advisors.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, health policy, health education, health communication or related field required; at least three years of experience coordinating or managing public health programs required, including collaborating effectively with various external constituents and partners, meeting planning, budget tracking, and drafting correspondence and reports. Experience writing grant applications and managing grant budgets is essential; experience with US government-funded grants preferred. 

Experience with developing educational and promotional materials, and working in a medical association and/or with health care professionals is highly desirable. Proficiency with MS Office is required. Must be able to take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively communicate, manage projects within tight deadlines, handle a heavy workload, work both independently and as part of team, think creatively and pay close attention to detail. Fluency in foreign language(s) is desirable.

Georgia Tech invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professorship with an expected start date of August 2016, as a joint appointment between the School of City and Regional Planning (SCaRP) and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs (The Nunn School).  The successful candidate will show great promise to make significant contributions to the advancement of international development scholarship; will contribute to the teaching programs of the schools; and will engage multi-disciplinary initiatives aimed at enhancing the role of global issues on the campus.  Applicants should have research interests and will be expected to teach in global development (including International Affairs 2050 for students enrolled in the joint global development minor), international affairs, and urban planning.  Focus within international development is open and could range within the umbrella areas of energy, environment, natural resources, infrastructure, sustainability, urbanization, and public health. Candidates should be fluent in the theories and practice of global political and economic development. All applicants should show promise or evidence of outstanding scholarly achievement. A doctoral degree in international affairs, planning, or a related field is required.  Joint appointment to the two schools is anticipated, with primary tenure home in the unit most closely aligned with the individual’s intellectual interests.

The Department of Public Administration, in the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) at North Carolina State University (NC State), invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, beginning August 2015. We seek highly qualified candidates with a research focus and teaching interests in public budgeting and financial management.

Teaching responsibilities will be at the graduate level in the department’s PhD and NASPAA-
accredited MPA programs. The applicant must be able to teach our MPA public budgeting core course as well as teach our doctoral seminar in financial management and related topics.

Scholars with secondary field interests in Nonprofit Management and/or Urban Management are highly desirable.
