Full-time position available. with the Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Functions as the Natural Resources Management Division Manager. Researches and evaluates existing park facilities and grounds to ensure the safety, general welfare and enjoyment of the general public. Assists in the planning, organization and implementation of parks and facilities' goals and objectives, and in the formulation of division policies and procedures. Plans, prioritizes, and implements park maintenance, repair and development activities. Coordinates renovation, construction and development projects. Directs, supervises, evaluates and schedules assigned parks and grounds crew personnel and supervisory staff. Teamwork, leadership, and good communication skills are also essential competencies. Purchases new equipment, materials and supplies. Generates and submits reports and documentation, Researches special projects and issues. Assists with grant preparation. Assists with budget development and maintenance. Maintains receipts and budgetary expenditures. Oversees the department's Ice and Snow Emergency Response Services, Contract Grounds Maintenance Program, as well as Citywide Mowing and Forestry Operations. Oversees a number of managerial staff and assures all are adhering to City and department policies and procedures. Writes, reviews, and administers contracts with outside service providers.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of responsible experience in the practices of park management, park maintenance, park administration or recreation and at least 2 years in a related managerial position; OR equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience.
Preference given for Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) designations or an accredited Master’s degree in parks and recreation, public administration or forestry.
