Job Description:
Transportation Planner II

Responsibilities: The primary duties of the Transportation Planner II include providing transportation planning services for transit, highway, state agencies, cities and counties. The candidate will identify innovative technical solutions for a variety of transportation planning projects in Maryland and Virginia .

Responsibilities include quantitative and qualitative analyses for a variety of transportation projects including interchange areas and access management, corridor planning, traffic & safety analysis, urban design, transportation management plans and other related planning projects. Position will be involved with the collection of project related data, conduct interviews with government agencies and clients, review maps, and land use surveys, prepare socio-economic analysis, assimilate and manage data. Successful candidate will participate in public information meetings as needed. Candidate may also be involved with project management activities and business development activities. May also provide transportation planning expertise to in-house planning efforts related to disaster services and land development.

Qualifications: Minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in the public or private sector, working with local or regional transportation agencies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team-orientation, and able to effectively plan and participate in public meetings. desired. B.S. in Urban Planning with a master’s preferred. AICP preferred.
