Program Interns at Sarah's Circle

Program Interns
Program staff interns work with program and case management staff in all aspects of the program. Tasks include conducting initial intakes, as well as basic case management follow up and goal setting. Program interns are also responsible for maintaining paperwork, attending staff meetings, and assisting with daily program operations. Internships are offered for undergraduate and graduate level students.

Art Therapy Intern
Art Therapy interns work with the women of Sarah's Circle weekly, either on an individual basis or in a group. Art Therapy interns are supervised by the Clinical Director.

Counseling Intern
Counseling interns are expected to assist with the day-to-day operations of the center, i.e. interact with clients at the information desk, do clinical assessments and service plans, serve as case manager to a case load of center clients, facilitate a group or group activities, and provide one-on-one counseling.
Domestic Violence Specialist Intern

Domestic Violence interns will facilitate the weekly domestic violence group, assist with programming, as well as aid in daily operation. This individual will also research additional funding and provide grant writing for the domestic violence program.

Development Interns
Development interns work on all aspects of the development process. Among other things, this work may include grant writing, marketing, and special events coordination.

Additionally, Sarah's Circle agrees to provide weekly supervision and on-the-job training and mentoring for the length of the internship. We will provide a diverse experience working with women who are homeless and help promote an understanding of the effects of poverty, race, gender, and trauma has on a women in our society. We will also provide an opportunity to understand the state, federal, and Chicago homeless systems and resources.
