What: The two Directors of Consulting, one for Facility Planning and one for Design and Construction, each works in close collaboration with Market Directors to ensure a culture of consulting, with Directors of Consulting ensuring functional expertise and Market Directors responsible for market accuracy and client relationship development. The Directors of Consulting work closely together to establish, revise, and impart excellence in IFF’s practice of consultancy, at a project, staff and departmental level, and to ensure a smooth transition of client delivery within in and between project phases.

The Planning Department Manager will oversee the Planning Department; direct and/or participate in all stages of plan development including analysis, presentations, public participation, client meetings, policy and best practice research; develop and maintain client relationships; and identify and assist with marketing efforts. Serve as technical resource to project, department, and office staff. Address technical questions/issues. Review, or oversee review, of work performed by the department including technical and project management tasks. Coordinate with other departments and/or senior staff to assist in reviews, as needed. Develop project and department staffing projections on a monthly basis, at a minimum. Make assignments to department staff. Monitor workloads and assignments to maintain utilization rates of staff. Perform and/or assist in client negotiations regarding project scopes of work, fees, and contract terms. Monitor project budgets and schedules. Prepare financial forecasts for projects in accordance with company policy. Coordinate with Project Accountant on project set-up, monitoring, progress reports, re-budgeting, supplements, subconsultant agreements, insurance requirements, accounts receivable, and invoicing. Assist with identification, interviewing, and hiring of planning personnel. Coach/mentor/train planning staff. Develop staff for advancing in their careers. Identify opportunities and make appropriate recommendations for advanced project roles of deserving staff. Perform or assign annual employee reviews. Coordinate with other departments for input on planning staff. Make recommendations for promotions and salary increases. Identify and recommend resource needs (hardware/software, library materials, etc.), as well as training opportunities. Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Urban Planning is preferred with 15 or more year’s municipal transportation and environmental planning experience. Must have a broad knowledge base in urban planning with a transportation focus, including GIS and comprehensive transportation and land use planning, and specific knowledge in complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian planning. CNT is seeking an experienced and qualified program associate to assist with our RainReady Home initiative.RainReady(link is external) is a program that helps individual property owners and communities work together to find solutions to the problems of too much or too little water. We help people who find their lives disrupted by flooding or water shortages to come together to adopt RainReady practices and policies. Our current focus is on mitigating the impacts of urban flooding in the Chicago region.

RainReady Home is a first-of-its-kind home upgrade service for properties affected by flooding, complete with a property assessment, construction oversight and financing assistance. Improvements can include downspout disconnection, re-grading, foundation crack sealing, porous paving, rain gardens, and backwater valves. Landscape improvements are prioritized.

Accountability

The RainReady Program Associate will report directly to the RainReady Home Program Manager and collaborate closely with other CNT staff on operations and production activities.

Responsibilities

The RainReady Program Associate will work with the RainReady team to ensure that our clients – homeowners, businesses, municipalities and agencies – receive a high quality service, and that we expand our outreach and impact in the region and nationally. This position requires a high level of client contact with diverse populations. Specific responsibilities include:

§  Enrolls new clients by reviewing applications and records, and interviewing program applicants to assess needs and eligibility

§  Provides customer service, including appointment scheduling, coordination of services, and monitoring service delivery

§  Maintains and reports client records by logging events and progress in Salesforce, and preparing documentation

§  Communicates client progress to RainReady team members

§  Provides event support, such as staffing community meetings

§  Participates in the activities of the wider RainReady team, from meeting with policy makers to attending community mapping workshops

Evening and weekend work will sometimes be necessary.

Skills and qualifications
