Description

Specific responsibilities:

  • Be a part of winning campaigns: Work with members of all ICIRR departments to develop and implement digital advocacy and storytelling tactics that drive our coalition’s campaigns toward victory. This will include managing our digital advocacy platform to publicize and help mobilize ICIRR events.
  • Digital content creation and audience management: Develop, implement, manage and analyze new and alternative social media strategies and use creative, cutting-edge practices to grow our coalition’s visibility, traffic, and reach. In doing so, ensure that ICIRR has an integrated approach to all aspects of its digital presence. This includes tracking success through analyzing metrics and suggesting adjustments.
  • Community outreach through digital platforms and tactics: This includes managing phone banks and text banks, assisting with digital ad buys, and responding to community members on Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or email. Work across departments to schedule and execute informational or advocacy live streams. Track website performance and ensure up-to-date content.
  • Mass email and text message support: Calendar, write, and send action alerts by text and email to mobilize ICIRR’s membership and online base. Assist with fundraising and e-newsletter campaigns.
  • Assist with media and press outreach: Assist with press activities, including press conferences, rapid response activities, writing press releases; pitching to the media; maintaining media lists; and conducting media monitoring.
  • Additional responsibilities include: Photography at in-person events; light video editing; assistance with annual fundraising event; rapid response for breaking immigration news; supporting ICIRR members in their digital outreach. Considering event and rapid response work, availability on some nights and weekends may be necessary.

Job requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum two years of experience in communications, social media, or community organizing. Examples include but are not limited to paid or volunteer work with political campaigns, community-based organizations, or college student organizations.
  • Skills: Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills. Ability to speak and write in Spanish is a plus. Demonstrated project or program management is a plus. Team player who is willing to experiment and try new tactics to reach our audiences.
  • Programs and platforms: Familiarity with social networking, content management systems, web development, database management, and/or community outreach strategies (including phone banking, text banking, or canvassing). Programs and platforms you would be using include but are not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, StreamYard, Canva, VAN, and Phone2Action.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, creative writing, communications, marketing, or journalism. Organizing or community-based experience is accepted in lieu of formal education.
  • Interests: Interest in immigration and refugee issues and understanding of Chicago and Illinois communities preferred.

Position Description | HR&A New York seeks a Marketing Coordinator with at least 2 years of relevant work experience supporting a marketing team in a professional services firm. Candidates should be passionate about urban development, real estate, design, and public policy. The position involves significant collaboration with senior professionals to support them as they build their practice areas. This includes working with the Marketing Director and different senior members of the firm to identify and pursue business opportunities, and maintain HR&A’s standard of high quality workmanship. In addition to supporting the growth and business development of the New York office, the Marketing Coordinator will provide dedicated support to our Los Angeles, DC, and other new offices. Specific duties include:
  • Supporting proposal efforts (RFP/RFQ)
  • Maintaining and updating digital content
  • Creating and maintaining marketing collateral
  • Coordinating and standardizing firm’s marketing deliverables
  • Generating press releases and e-blasts
  • Maintaining the firm’s marketing database

Experience Required | Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in marketing, communications, or PR, with a keen interest in urban planning and real estate economic development.  Candidate must possess excellent organizational and writing skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and other basic design software. The Senior Associate Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Housing the Senior Associate will assist in the Web portal management, event planning and coordination, awards program support and research and writing for the Terwilliger Center’s program of work.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for urban planning or comparable field, possess demonstrated excellence in writing and editing for a variety of platforms and experience in website management and updates.
The Senior Associate’s overall responsibility will include writing, program management, event coordination and relationship management. This includes updating the “How Housing Matters” Web portal and writing clear and actionable research for nonacademic audiences, assist with program development and execution coordination for the Center’s annual conference as well as for additional workshops, forums, and meetings. Additional responsibilities require the Senior Associate to coordinate with other departments, and effectively manage the application, marketing, and award processes for the Center’s annual housing awards program in addition to conducting research and writing, as needed, in support of the Center’s program of work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in urban planning, public administration, urban policy, sociology, economics or comparable fields. 3 to 5 years of overall related experience, graduate education may substitute for experience.
  • General knowledge of and passion for housing policy, urban planning or residential real estate development.
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing for research reports, newsletters and online publications.
  • Experience in website management and updates, preferably using the WordPress platform. Knowledge of information visualization tools preferred.
  • Experience in meeting planning and awards programs preferred.
  • Professional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to work with content partners, editorial advisors, internal and external ULI constituencies.
  • Ability to initiate tasks and assume responsibility, and to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with a high-volume of work. Ability to prioritize tasks, to handle multiple tasks concurrently and completely, with responsible follow-through.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point).
