What: The Program and Clinical Director is responsible for the design and implementation of the BASE (Business, Academic, Social, Emotional) Coaching model for individual and group clinical supports as well as partnering with the Project Manager on day to day oversight and quality control of the program experience. Organized around the structures and values of a transformational healing relationship, BASE Coaching focuses on addressing traumatic stress in order to maximize academic growth and employment readiness. BASE Coaches work with individuals and small groups serving as coaches, case managers, program navigators and motivational interviewers.
Importantly, this position also works closely with the Project Manager and Program Specialist to insure the day-to-day operations of Amplify’s programming are well executed. This includes serving as the onsite culture and expectations keeper and overseeing logistics and program flow.
This Director is also responsible for BASE Coaching day-to-day data capture and tracking individual progress from assessment through each phase of support and the programming that follows. This position partners closely with the full Amplify team to regularly analyze data and make both short and long-term program adjustments. Additionally, as a start-up initiative piloting its first cohort, this Director is expected to contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the model in order to drive maximum long-term impact. This position reports directly to the Amplify Executive Director. Responsibilities include:
- Serve as a BASE Coach to Amplify Chicago participants in their journey through assessment, training and employment using a coordinated and documented process of relationship-based support
- Partner with the Project Manager and Program Specialist to insure all day-to-day expectations and programming goals are being met with excellence
- Facilitate and/or model all BASE coaching and restorative practice components of the Amplify program model
- Provide professional development and supervision to additional Base Coaches and the Amplify team as appropriate
- Complete and coordinate the participant intake and assessment process
- Working closely with other Amplify staff, create and monitor/refine a BASE Plan that addresses individual stability factors, milestones, business, academic, personal and professional goals for each participant
- Conduct and document Base Coaching sessions each week
- Document significant contacts, events and progress of each individual
- Identify and mobilize around the clinical needs of participants
- Cultivate referral services in areas including substance abuse, childcare, domestic violence, expungement, etc.
- Organize and facilitate/supervise trainings for the positive development of participants in areas including manhood/rites of passage, CBI (cognitive behavioral Intervention) mindfulness, stress relief, dealing with trauma, etc.
- Serve as the keeper of restorative justice (RJ) practices for Amplify, including the integration of RJ practices throughout the program design and components
- Work closely with the Amplify team to integrate trauma-informed practices throughout core program components
- Enter BASE Coach data into Salesforce and partner with the Program Specialist and Amplify team to track all data and progress toward goals, including case management related data
- Working closely with the Amplify team, inform the continued build out and refinement of the Salesforce case management system/tool
- Provide timely and effective interventions for young people and their families in emergency/crisis situations
- Create a participant crisis protocol and train Amplify staff on proper implementation
- Working closely with the Amplify team, design and implement recognition ceremonies and incentive structures that encourage and reward individual and cohort growth and progress toward goals
- Assist in recruitment efforts for subsequent cohorts
- Provide clinical advice and consultation to The Academy Group as needed and appropriate
- Other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology or related field preferred
- Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of five years working with a caseload of racially, culturally and socioeconomically diverse young people and their families
- Expertise in trauma informed interventions and cognitive behavioral therapy
- Training and expertise in making sound psychosocial assessments and designing treatment/intervention plans
- Experience implementing restorative justice practices preferred
- Knowledge of community strengths, challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of The Academy Group (AG) and the objectives of Amplify Chicago
- Experience developing caring, trusting, and reliable relationships with young people and their families; ability to successfully leverage these relationships in order to provide personalized care and support as they advance through the program model
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with community-based organizations
- Significant experience developing and implementing training for clinicians and non- clinicians who work with young people
- Significant experience delivering clinical/social supports and implementing restorative practices with high risk young men and women
- Expertise in social and emotional learning
