Transportation & Economic Development Coordinator - County of Kankakee, IL

Who: County of Kankakee, Illinois

What: Under supervision of the Executive Director of the MPO and the President of the Economic Alliance, works with stakeholders and partners to coordinate transportation and economic development projects related to major expansions of industrial and commercial enterprises within the Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) planning area to ensure technical competence and compliance with all current local, state, and federal policies, standards, guidelines, and criteria.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, including:
  • Knowledge of planning programs and processes, transportation planning, and its components and knowledge of grants and funding for transportation and economic development projects. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and State laws, statutes and ordinances governing planning, transportation, and economic development. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals in the transportation planning field, and with employees, and the general public. 
Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Publisher. 
  • A degree in land-use planning, urban planning, civil engineering, public administration, economic development, or a closely related field. 2–3 years planning experience. 
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred. 
This is a full time position with a salary range of $55,000-$65,000, plus benefits.
