Internship (Stipend included), Chicago Housing Authority- Chicago, IL

 
The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is seeking an intern to assist with data analysis projects in the Resident Services Division.  Resident Services contracts with a number of providers in the areas of case management, clinical counseling, workforce development, youth programming, etc.  The position is on the data and reporting team, which manages CHA’s Case Management Tracking System, tracks contractors’ performance and reports on resident progress using a wide range of metrics. 

In order to be successful in this position, an intern must be willing and able to:
  • Learn to pull reports from CHA’s Case Management Tracking System, Salesforce.com;
  • Manipulate large, complicated data sets in Microsoft Excel, Access, and/or other data analysis software;
  • Learn about the services CHA’s Resident Services Division offers and the Division’s strategic direction, in order to understand the context of data analysis tasks and policy questions;
  • Analyze data to answer questions about policies and programs and their impact on residents;
  • Interpret and clearly present findings in a variety of ways, including memoranda, PowerPoint slides and verbal presentations;
  • Conduct research on social services in the Chicago area and the populations they serve to provide context for findings about CHA residents;
  • Propose additional questions and potential analyses on the basis of findings;
  • Work collaboratively with the data team on data analysis and interpretation;
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate would have data analysis experience, and expert knowledge of excel, access or another data processing program is required.  Instruction in navigating Salesforce.com will be provided.  A stipend of $5,000 is available.
