GIS Analyst, TERRA Engineering- Chicago, IL

TERRA Engineering, Ltd is a full-service, woman-owned engineering firm serving clients since 1992. With offices in Chicago, Peoria, Milwaukee, St. Louis, and Oak Park, TERRA provides high-quality services for client-specific solutions within scope, budget, and schedule. 

TERRA currently has an opening for a full-time GIS Analyst. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment working on a variety of projects simultaneously, including on-call services, with several types of clients. Candidate may work under project managers from all office locations: Chicago, Peoria, St Louis, and Milwaukee. Position will require occasional travel, field work and supervision of up to 10 field staff. 

Candidate must have: • 
Advanced experience with Esri Software including Desktop, Model Builder, ArcPad, and License Manager • 
Good analytical and creative problem solving skills • 
Strong knowledge of and experience with spatial and attribute data • 
Ability to research and aggregate data from many sources • 
Ability to coordinate and supervise GPS Data Collection for several projects at once • 
Detail oriented quality control experience • 
GIS/CAD Conversion and Interoperability experience • 
Working knowledge of the integration between Esri and Google Earth • 
Basic understanding of computer programming techniques • 
Solid understanding of relational database management systems • 
Be an advanced user of Microsoft Office including Microsoft Access • 
Ability to create graphics and digital representations of various geographies • 
Ability to work with minimal supervision and be a self-motivater • 
Technical writing skills • 
Valid Driver’s License 

Experience with the following is considered a plus: • 
Experience responding to Requests for Proposals • 
AutoCAD or Microstation • 
USDA NRCS Soil Data Viewer • 
FEMA dFIRM data, Firmette’s and LOMC retrieval • 
Website design and development • 
Public Outreach Experience • 
Transportation planning and project experience such as: Traffic Data Collection, Traffic Modeling, Phase I Environmental Analysis, NEPA/EIS Drafting, State/Local DOT Experience 

Education: • 
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, or Related Field • 
GIS Certification and/or Master’s Degree is a plus
