The Office for Capital Programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago has an opening for a Project Manager. Responsibilities for this position include project management and contract administration services related to capital projects, which can include both new construction and renovation projects.
Duties:
This position is responsible for the scope, budget, schedule management, contract administration and construction execution of campus-wide physical facility and construction projects. Oversee the planning,design, construction and post-construction phase services provided to the campus, and act as the liaison between project stake holders and contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, consultants, and engineers. This includes direct responsibility for program, estimating, budget & schedule development and management, bidding and negotiating,) and occupancy management, as well as ensuring overall design and construction quality and project control. Monitor all aspects of construction projects to ensure completion of projects in accordance with plans and specifications and oversee schedule to monitor any potential impact on campus operations.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a B.A. or B.S. degree in architecture, a related engineering field or construction is required.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in management of design and construction of multiple simultaneous projects including construction project estimating, budgeting, schedule management, and cash flow management. Experience in contract administration, including contract document interpretation and development required.
Disability access experience is required to ensure that all plans for new projects and renovations comply with the tenets of universal access for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at UIC. State of Illinois licensure to practice architecture or related engineering professions is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with OSHA and safety regulations as related to building construction is required. Familiarity with building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm/protection systems, roofing and faade systems, campus utility systems, hazardous materials testing and abatement, as well as state and local permitting and approvals processes as related to construction is required.
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels is essential. Ability to interpret legal, technical, and construction documents is essential. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software strongly preferred.
