Job Description

Bloomberg is seeking a senior economic analyst to help produce rich, in-depth information for this online product on the implications of government actions for business and industry. The senior economic analyst will join an industry-focused team of editors, reporters, and other analysts to deliver high-quality content to customers. This role's primary responsibility will be to assess the economic impacts of government actions on business and industry, working closely and collaboratively with editors, reporters and other analysts. The senior economic analyst will:
- Research and analyze economic impacts of governmental actions
- Build quantitative models with extensive scenario-driven analysis to assess the impact of potential outcomes
- Analyze and present the economic implications of legislative and regulatory changes within an industry group
- Work with reporters, editors and analysts to generate industry and business-specific content
Job Requirements

Experience
- MS or MA in economics, MBA or related field, or equivalent work experience; PhD is a plus
- Minimum of five years work experience as an economic analyst, consultant or policy analyst
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of transportation and infrastructure industry
- Strong quantitative skills and superior writing ability to translate in-depth analysis into insightful stories
- Experience in managing small teams
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Solid business and economic acumen; a deep understanding of fundamental principles of economics
- Exceptional statistical skills and an ability to present and explain complex analyses in an intuitive manner
- Ability to analyze and work with large databases using SAS, STATA, SPLUS or similar statistical package
- Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills working with a team
- Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
- Demonstrable attention to detail and organizational skills
- A good communicator, strong collaborator and team player
- Accustomed to open-door office setting
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
