Assistant Village Manager - Village of Orland Park

Who: The Village of Orland Park, a dynamic, progressive, growing community seeks an Assistant Village Manager to assist the Village Manager in providing leadership in the day-to-day operations of the Village.

What: The Assistant Village Manager will serve as Acting Village Manager in the absence of Village Manager. Job Summary
Cleveland State University is searching for active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber.
We seek a tenure-track assistant professor to invest in our nationally ranked program in urban policy/city management, with research and teaching expertise in either local government finance/budgeting or in local government operations (service delivery and evaluation). The successful candidate will contribute to our graduate public administration program, including the Master of Public Administration, the public administration track in the Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Public Affairs, and the undergraduate track in public management in the BA in Urban Studies and/or the proposed BA in City Management. The start date is August 15, 2016.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in public administration, political science, public policy, economics, finance, or related field; ABD candidates must complete all requirements for the Ph.D. by July 1, 2016. Also eligible are reflective practitioners who hold an appropriate advanced professional degree (MPA, JD, MBA, etc.) and at least 10 years experience accompanied and a record of reflective writing on practice. A research record commensurate with rank is also required. Interest in raising external funding, and working with the Great Lakes Environmental Finance Center, the Public Management Program, or other applied research centers and programs in the College.
Preferred Qualifications
Research expertise in local budgeting and finance or in local government operations (service delivery and evaluation); ability to contribute, through research/scholarship, teaching,and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the Levin College. Demonstrated expertise in teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public financial management, public budgeting, and/or local government operations , as well as general public administration, and to contribute to the areas of urban policy and public management. Experience teaching, supervising, and advising students of various cultural backgrounds, including backgrounds distinctly different from one’s own. Evidence of ability to communicate effectively with individuals of varying backgrounds. Ability and interest in raising external funding, and working with the Great Lakes Environmental Finance Center, the Public Management Program, or other applied research centers and programs in the College.

Chemonics International is looking for a short-term consultant to develop and deliver a training program to municipal leaders in Moldova. The Advisor will contribute to training related to park and recreation planning, urban forestry (street trees), and urban horticulture. The Advisor will have experience in landscape architecture and planning in urban environments, as well as maintenance, design, and equipping of planned landscapes.
This position will be working within USAID's Local Government Support Project (LGSP). LGSP is a four-year project aimed at assisting local governments in the design and implementation of policies and procedures that contribute to good governance, develop local capacity to meet decentralized authorities and responsibilities for services in a transparent manner, and provide basic services that spur the growth of local economies and make services more cost effective and efficient. 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver a training program for town halls and municipal utilities employees who are responsible for urban green spaces
  • Provide feedback on urban green space projects and major activities presented by participants during training
  • Produce a final activity report for the training program
Position Requirements:
  • University degree in landscape architecture, forestry, city management, or other relevant field of study
  • Five years of experience in green space management
  • Understanding of the challenges and limitations in urban green space management within developing countries
  • Proven experience preparing and delivering training on urban green space management
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Romanian and/or Russian is highly desirable
