GIS Analyst - Village of Schaumburg, IL

STARTING SALARY RANGE:  $75,244.00 - $83,709.00 annually dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $75,244.00 - $109,104.00.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position assists with maintaining the village’s Geographic Information System (GIS), including updating GIS-related data, preparing exhibits and thematic maps, providing technical support, and training to departmental GIS users, and maintaining web map services.  

To succeed in this role, applicants will need to effectively and clearly communicate to a full range of people and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels with sound judgement.  We are looking to add a team member capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects with thoroughness and accuracy.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Creates and maintains GIS data in an enterprise geodatabase.
  2. Creates and updates maps and exhibits for various departments.
  3. Performs spatial data analysis. 
  4. Performs automation of GIS tasks using geoprocessing models, Model Builder, or Python.
  5. Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of web mapping applications.
  6. Assists with GIS hardware and software setup and configuration.
  7. Provides technical assistance, consultation, and basic training to department users with GIS-related projects and applications.
  8. Assists with field work utilizing Global Positioning Systems (GPS) devices and mobile devices.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
  2. A minimum of three years of experience supporting, developing, and implementing geographic information systems.  Experience in local government preferred.
  3. Considerable knowledge of the use and operation of Esri software, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and relational databases. 
  4. Possession of a valid driver’s license and transportation for fieldwork.
  5. Proficiency with current computer technology, job-specific software, and customer service systems.
