Economic Development Program Manager  (Office of Economic Development) - Arts and Artists

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Bureau Chief or their designee, develops, manages, and implements economic, community development, and/or talent solution programs. Leverages work underway by the Bureau, sister Cook County agencies, and other organizations in northeastern Illinois to support needs of key economic sectors and communities. Through the development of existing programs, new programs, and/or partner initiatives, promotes economic growth, resiliency, and enhanced competitiveness for local businesses and communities.  Manages and implements sector-driven economic development, talent solution, and community development programs from conception to conclusion. Performs other duties as assigned.  


This position is grant funded.

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Four (4) years of full-time professional work experience in one of the following areas: business development; economic development; community development; arts programming; workforce development; urban planning; public administration; public policy; or social services is required.
  • Valid driver's license with proof of insurance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Arts Administration; Business Administration; Public Administration; Social Services; Urban Planning; Engineering; Industrial Organization; or Public Policy.
  • One (1) year of full-time experience designing, launching, and/or managing new economic-, community-, or arts-related programs.
  • Experience with one of the following:
    • The arts and culture community in Cook County, including experience with arts programming and management.
    • The business community in Cook County.
    • The workforce development ecosystem in Illinois.
    • Local non-profits or community groups to plan for or implement community-driven change on issues such as: economic development, community development, infrastructure, public health, community safety, housing and homelessness, food access, or social services.
