Village Planner
Lake Zurich, IL

POSITION
The Village of Lake Zurich has an immediate need for qualified candidates for the position of Village Planner. Under general supervision of the Community Services Director, this position assists in developing and implementing the Comprehensive Plan and zoning regulations; processes variances, text amendments, PUDs and subdivision plats, assists citizens, developers, officials, and the general public; conducts background research and data collection; prepares planning reports and presentations.

The starting salary for this position is $70,000 +/- annually DOQ, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates the development review process for the Village.
  • Reviews and processes various land use application submittals, including recommending conditions of approval to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
  • Reviews development plans for compliance with development standards.
  • Meets with businesses, developers, and builders regarding plans and zoning.
  • Attends monthly Planning and Zoning Commission meetings and occasional Village Board meetings.
  • Acts as primary staff liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, or a closely related field, with at least four years of related work experience. AICP or ability to obtain certification is strongly desired.
