Internship (PAID) - AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC)- Chicago, IL


PAID INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is currently seeking an intern to assist in its Housing Assistance Department. The Housing Assistance Intern will work closely with AFC staff in keeping our Chicago Low- Income Housing Trust Fund clients housed. The intern will act as a liaison with the funder and landlords, assist landlords with contract renewal applications, quarterly payments, etc. The intern will work at the Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund offices located in City Hall.
The internship’s goals include imparting on-the-job training and experience in working with People Living with HIV/AIDS and gain knowledge of the Chicago housing continuum and housing rights.
This is a paid internship. The intern will receive necessary training and staff supervision. We require a minimum of 15 hours/week and at least 1 year commitment.
Qualifications:
  •   Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program preferably with an interest and aptitude to work in social services or public health, but not necessary;
  •   Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  •   Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments;
  •   Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  •   Passion for social justice issues and the fight against HIV/AIDS
