Planning Intern (Paid, Part-Time, Recent Graduates Eligible), Village of Clarendon Hills - Clarendon Hills, IL (Chicago South Suburbs)

Planning Intern

The Village of Clarendon Hills (8,427) is seeking applications for the part-time position of
Planning Intern. Under direction of the Director of Community Development, this position
assists in the day-to-day operations of the Community Development Department while
assisting with ongoing special projects.

Primary Duties:
 Providing support to the Community Development Department’s day-to-day
operations (includes permitting, Economic Development, Code Enforcement and
Planning)
 Assisting staff in collecting and preparing data for various planning projects
 Conducting field work, collecting parcel data and searching land records
 Preparing maps and planning reports (ArcGIS)
 Producing sketches and renderings
 Assisting Community Development Director at community meetings
 Presenting report findings at community meetings
 Researching funding sources and writing grant proposals
Requirements: Full enrollment in an accredited Masters of Planning Program or related
field, or a recent graduation from an accredited Masters of Planning Program is required.
Desired Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills; strong research and
analytical skills; motivated self-starter able to work independently; ability to work
effectively in a team environment; flexibility and desire to work on varying planning
projects

Current Salary: $15/hour for 20 - 30 hours per week. It is expected that the hired
applicant will remain employed with the Village for 1-2 years.
