Internship, Chicago Sustainable Backyards Program

Internship description:
Support the Chicago Sustainable Backyards Program, an educational and incentive program of the City of Chicago that helps Chicagoans create more environmentally-friendly landscapes in their yards and community gardens. See www.cityofchicago.org/rainbarrel for more information on this exciting and popular program.
Hours and Location:
5-10 hours per week depending on workload and intern availability. Most work will occur at downtown location during the Mon-Fri 9am-5pm workday; some evening/weekend availability preferred for occasional events.
Primary Duties:
- Process rebates by entering rebate information into spreadsheet.
- Respond to public inquiries about the program on e-mail and phone.
Secondary Duties:
- Coordinate and help facilitate public workshops and outreach events.
- Write Facebook and blog posts.
- Other duties as they arise or as intern has interest.
Required qualifications:
- experience with Excel
- great attention to detail
- dependability
- good communication skills
Desired qualifications:
- experience with public outreach, education, social media
- knowledge of rain barrels, composting, native plants and trees
