Who we are: General Services Administration - Public Building Service (PBS) is the “landlord” of the Federal government. Duties:
The trainee is responsible for assisting senior-level employees with the acquisition and management work for realty transactions and assists in providing guidance to clients on such matters as the acquisition of property or space, relocation of tenants and/or property owners, land use constraints, etc. Examples of assignments include:

     Performing short-term planning, leasing, site disposal, out leasing and assignment and utilization work;
     Receiving space and facility needs requests (generally up to 10,000 sq. ft. of occupiable space) for general and special purpose office use;
     Conducting site surveys and making comparison with the justification received from the agency;
     Performing utilization surveys of both leased and Government-owned space;
     Performing cost analysis to determine whether it is more economical to relocate the agency or other agencies, reconfiguring existing space, or leasing new space for the requesting agency.

Requirements:

    Must be a degree-seeking student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
    Must be able to work a minimum of 640 hours before the completion of the degree requirements.
    Must be attending school on at least a half-time basis.


How to Qualify Based on Education:
For the GS-3 level:
Completion of 1 academic year of post high school study
For the GS-4 level:
Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an Associate’s degree
For the GS-5 level:
Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a Bachelor’s degree
For the GS-7 level:
Completion of 1 academic year of graduate level education, bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement, or 5 academic years of pre-professional study.
Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the baccalaureate level is fully qualifying at the GS-7 level. Applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor’s degree (in the curriculum qualifying for this position) and meet one of the following to qualify for SAA.

      GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
      GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for all courses in major field of study or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
      Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision.
      Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

For the GS-9 level:
Completion of 2 academic years of graduate level education or Master’s or equivalent graduate degree.

Please note: The required education for all grade levels must be related to the position in order to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies necessary to perform the job successfully.

An applicant may qualify based on previous education and/or experience. Each applicant’s resume will be evaluated for specialized and/or general experience using the qualification standard for the target position to determine whether it is creditable. If creditable, the qualifying grade will be set at the appropriate level based on this experience.
