Development Intern, Canine Therapy Corps


Start Date: As soon as is practicable

Position Title: Development Intern

Organizational Mission: Canine Therapy Corps is a Chicago-based network of dedicated volunteers and their certified therapy dogs offering rehabilitative therapy to people with physical and emotional challenges. These programs help restore health and hope to thousands of clients every year.

Main Functions: The Development Intern will assist the CTC staff with the grant writing and fundraising duties of the organization.

Reports To: Director of Operations, Volunteer and Office Manager

Duties:
• Research potential funding sources (foundations, corporations, individuals, public sources) whose priorities line up with

CTC’s mission
• Investigate grant opportunities and assist with preparation of grant proposals
• Assist with brainstorming, planning, and implementation of fundraising efforts
• Explore creative ways to increase Canine Therapy Corps’ visibility
• Data entry and other fundraising-related administrative duties, as needed
• Other responsibilities as they develop, based on intern interest areas and organizational needs


Working Conditions:
• Part-time position (5-10 hours per week, perhaps more or less depending on projects underway)

Requirements:
• Must love dogs
• Upperclassmen pursuing a bachelor’s degree, recent graduates or students pursuing a master’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, public relations, communications, or a related field
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong research skills
• Self-starter, flexible and able to manage multiple tasks
• Punctual, detail-oriented and reliable
• Creativity and openness to expressing new ideas that will help further CTC’s mission
• Knowledge of and experience with the following (preferred):

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Donors’ Forum
  • DonorPerfect
  • Constant Contact

• Proficient spoken and written English

Salary: Unpaid internship
