Policy Analyst - Household Financial Stability Project

Position Summary:

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking a Policy Analyst to help develop a new research-based effort to promote household financial stability and, especially, stronger balance sheets by American households. The position will focus on research, policies, outreach and other activities affecting the financial access, savings, debts and assets of households, in particular those below median income.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting primary and secondary research and policy analysis around balance sheet issues;
  • Writing and editing issue briefs and other publications;
  • Developing a new web-based clearinghouse and a “financial stability index,” building on existing Federal Reserve databanks (such as FRED) and internal and external research;
  • Helping to organize research conferences, roundtables, awards, and other efforts to build knowledge and generate impact around household-level financial stability and balance sheets; and
  • Representing the Fed at symposia and events in St. Louis and nationwide.

Job Qualifications:

  • Excellent research and analytical abilities;
  • Demonstrated writing and speaking abilities, including the ability to write and speak well for a variety of audiences;
  • Ability to develop a new web-based research clearinghouse and financial stability index;
  • Eagerness to forge a new body of work around improving household financial stability;
  • Bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in economics, public policy, business administration or a related field; and
  • At least 8 months of work experience in the areas described above.

The following is required:

  1. US citizenship or
  2. Permanent resident intending to become a citizen who meets certain other requirements.
Candidates with less than eight months of experience may be considered at the associate policy analyst level.
