The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) seeks a Visiting Assistant
Director for the Campus Advocacy Network (CAN). Established in 1991, CAN is the first campus based advocacy program in Illinois created to provide advocacy for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking as well as violence prevention education. CAN is a part of the Women's Leadership and Resource Center located in academic affairs and is a recipient of the Campus Grants program administered by the Office of Violence Against Women.

The Visiting Assistant Director will be integral in promoting and
administering CAN and grant-funded programs for the campus. As such, the Visiting Assistant Director will oversee and deliver educational programs for incoming freshmen, train orientation leaders and resident assistants and advise student organizations interested in violence prevention.
The Visiting Assistant Director will organize and deliver workshops, lectures and programs on interpersonal violence, violence prevention, systems of oppression, becoming an ally, and increasing bystander intervention. He/she will provide advocacy and crisis support to faculty, staff and students victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking. The position will also involve participation in on and off campus committees, organizations, and working groups as a liaison from CAN to develop campus and city-wide educational initiatives. The Visiting Assistant Director will develop marketing materials for campus-wide violence prevention campaigns and information for the website and brochures.

Looking for an energetic self-starter with initiative, creativity and
excellent verbal and written communication skills. The preferred candidate will have the ability to speak in front of large and small audiences; demonstrated experience in developing and delivering educational workshops, lectures and programs about interpersonal violence, violence prevention, and increasing bystander intervention; providing advocacy in civil, criminal and student judicial systems; knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and victim rights and experience working with diverse social identities and developing male allies.

Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, sociology, counseling,
criminology, gender and women's studies or a related field with two years of experience in providing programming, advocacy and referrals for college-aged students is required. Master's degree preferred. License eligible or certification in sexual assault and/ or domestic violence advocacy required.

Permanent funding is available for this position. The salary range is
