Metropolitan Planner with the Rockford Metropolitan Agency for Planning

Job Title: METROPOLITAN PLANNER

JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:

Works with the Rockford Metropolitan Agency for Planning (the Rockford MPO) to administer the federally required transportation planning process and provide land use planning, environmental planning, and transportation planning products to the MPO member organizations. Coordinate with Federal, State, and local agencies, and the public. Prepares MPO working documents (UWP, TIP, LRTP, HSTP, PPP, EJ & Title VI). Analyze alternate mobility options, safety programs, and operational field strategies including rail, bicycle, and environmental planning. Analyze the fiscal impact of development and prepare growth strategies for the two-county MPO region; review existing land use and zoning plans for consistency. Analyze regional traffic operations and transit users. Analyze and recommend strategies to provide for the efficient movement of goods and services (truck, rail, air and pipeline), develop sub-area plans for freight and logistics centers, recommend multi-modal options for freight providers that enhance the economic opportunity of the region, and recommend operational improvements for rail and highway systems.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE):

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Traffic Engineering, Economics or a related field. Experience with MPO preferred but not required. A Master's Degree is highly desirable.

Starting Salary: $45,864 - $48,160 DOQ
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
