The Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for analyzing and reporting from the accounting and loan origination systems for NHS and NLS Loan Funds. The Financial Reporting Analyst will reconcile financial accounts between NHS accounting system and secondary sources (bank, subservicer, etc). The Financial Reporting Analyst makes decisions regarding the treatment of financial transactions and understands their impact on the organizations’ financial statements. The Financial Reporting Analyst is also responsible for financial modeling and creating ad hoc reporting for internal executive leadership and external stakeholders, with input from the Manager of Internal and External Performance Reporting.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Prepares monthly investor reports for over 30 external institutions, including account reconciliation, loss mitigation, and portfolio analysis in a combined financial model
• Researches and analyzes large quantities of financial data for internal and external reporting purposes
• Creates, organizes, and publishes financial reports in established or new formats using spreadsheet, presentation, and database programs
• Retrieves and consolidates data from multiple systems into financial models to identify and reconcile discrepancies; recommends solutions to efficiently organize data for future uses, ensuring that corrections or changes are implemented properly
• Coordinates with Lending and other team members in the Finance Department to forecast lending activity and reconcile loan boardings between NHS’ accounting system and Lending’s origination software
• Assists the Manager of Internal and External Reporting in developing and executing standardized financial reporting cycles for different internal and external audiences to support effective decision making
• Ensures that ad hoc financial reports are prepared and submitted to the division’s clients, government agencies and auditors, as required
• Develops and maintains forecast vs. actual financial models to ascertain profitability of organizational programs
• Researches and analyzes housing and mortgage industry trends to inform external presentation materials, as required
• Completes assigned bank and general ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis
• Reviews and processes adjusting journal entries due to corrections on the NHS’ accounting system, as required
• Completes ad hoc analysis to assist Accounting Manager with monthly close, as required
• Maintains in NHS’ accounting system the forgivable and deferred loans that will be amortized monthly; Reconciles the list of forgivable and deferred loans to the Quality Compliance Control Officer and the master ledger sent by subservicer
• Assists with boarding loans with subservicer’s financial system and posting corresponding entries into NHS’ accounting system
• Assists in determining eligibility of loans for sale into investor pools and oversees financial posting of loan sales
