Research Specialist

There are openings for Visiting Research Specialists for a qualitative study about paternal involvement of fathers of children with different mothers. The positions are full-time with benefits at the UIC College of Nursing, Health Systems Science Department. Applicants must be fluent in English, have extensive experience working with low-income African American families and good writing skills, and be able to work respectfully with people from a variety of racial/ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelors degree in psychology, social work or other related field. A Master’s degree, strong interpersonal skills and previous experience with in-depth interviewing and qualitative data analysis is strongly preferred. Primary responsibilities will be to recruit study participants, schedule and conduct in-depth interviews in the participants' homes, qualitative data coding, writing descriptive summaries, attending weekly project staff meetings, and other duties as assigned. Many recruitment activities and interviews are expected to take place during normal working hours, in the evenings and on weekends.
