The Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) promotes strong communities, businesses and households to ensure that people who work do not live in poverty. JARC provides high quality skills training and support services to help lower-income and unemployed workers achieve self-sufficiency. JARC provides economic and workforce development services to businesses to improve their competitiveness.
Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) helps low-income workers, job seekers and community residents attain financial self-sufficiency through skills training and support services. JARCs job training programs target strategic skills gaps in the manufacturing, such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinist and welder. As a Center for Working Families (CWF), JARC provides bundled financial support services, such as income supports, financial coaching and employment services.
The Development & Operations Coordinator supports JARC’s fundraising and resource development activities including identifying, soliciting and cultivating gifts and grants from individuals, foundations and corporations. The Development & Operations Coordinator also contributes to JARC’s marketing and communications efforts.
 The Development & Operations Coordinator additionally assists the Director of Human Resources in the execution of basic HR functions, including payroll, employee orientations, benefits enrollment and administration, maintaining personnel files, and coordinating annual performance reviews with the program directors.
This position reports both to the Director of Development & Communications and the Director of Human Resources and is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of areas within a fast-paced and growing nonprofit.
Development Functions:
  • Assists Director of Development & Communications with implementation of Resource Development Plan and regularly updates development calendar.
  • Supports agency applications and grant progress reports to foundation and corporate funders, as directed by Director of Development & Communications.
  • Provides grant writing and editing support for Director of Development & Communications.
  • Conducts prospect research to pursue new sources of funding and in-kind donations and helps draft letters of inquiry and proposals for new funders.
  • Assists in annual event preparation, planning, promotion and execution.
  • Assists with the JARC annual fundraising appeal, including creation and segmentation of donor solicitation list, donor and gifts tracking, mailing, and acknowledging donors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Communications Functions:
  • Assists Director of Development & Communications with implementation of Marketing and Communications Plan and regularly updates communications calendar.
  • Assists Director of Development & Communications and Executive Director with external communications and crafting communications materials such as press releases, fact sheets and policy papers.
  • Works with program staff, management, and the Director of Development & Communications to create original content, including participant success stories, partner highlights and policy updates, for various communications channels including social media.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Operations Functions:
  • Maintains HR/Personnel files.
  • Assists with semi-monthly payroll processing.
  • Maintain accurate count of PTO, Comp-time, and FMLA.
  • Assists with benefit enrollment and administration.
  • Coordinates annual review process with Associate Directors and Program Directors.
  • Conducts filing, record keeping and reporting activities (including the occasional audit and filing support for the Finance department).
  • Assists with general office operations and procurement.
  • Provides high-level support to the Executive Director, including preparation for board meetings, speaking engagements, and funder meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Team player; thrives in collaborative, mission-driven environment.
  • Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Self-motivated with creative problem solving skills.
  • Professionalism, flexibility, good judgment and commitment to the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media. Experience with QuickBooks and/or Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Track record of successful grant proposals a plus.
  • Background in non-profit work; knowledge of workforce development a plus.
  • Flexible availability.
Terms/Conditions:
  • Full Time / Permanent (35 hours a week)
  • FLSA Exempt
