Introduction
Rogers Park Business Alliance (RPBA) is a not-for-profit, 501c3, organization, specializing in business, community and economic development in Rogers Park--the most racially, ethnically and economically diverse community in Chicago. Rogers Park Business Alliance cultivates and sustains a thriving economic environment in Rogers Park, serving businesses and residents. Rogers Park Business Alliance is a delegate agency of the City of Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection and is the Sole Service Provider for three Special Service Areas.
Responsibilities of the Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible for neighborhood planning and commercial corridor management in Rogers Park.


Specifically, the Project Manager is responsible for:
1. Providing technical assistance and coordinating special projects for three Special Service Area (SSA) districts. This can include demographic and market studies, business technical assistance and other special projects as needed;
2. Monitoring the implementation and updating the annual progress report of the Commercial Corridor Plans;
3. Marketing and public relations, including press releases, website content, social media and other informational text as needed;
4. Engaging in community development planning efforts for commercial districts, the Rogers Park community and the region in which Rogers Park is located ;
5. Supporting all business attraction and retention efforts, including working with entrepreneurs and existing business owners on the development of their business;
6. Staffing RPBA’s Planning and Development Committee;
7. Managing SSA commissioners, ensuring SSA program compliance with City of Chicago rules;
8. Monitoring SSA contracts, budget and workplan;
9. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Desired:
1. Advanced degree in Urban Planning and Policy or equivalent.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people of diverse and divergent backgrounds.
3. Knowledge and familiarity with general Microsoft office software, PowerPoint, ArcGIS, Photoshop, InDesign and Claritas.
4. A commitment to community-based work and a desire to work in a friendly office environment.
5. A combination of experience in economic development, small business development and community organizing is preferred. Some evening and weekends required.
6. Solid verbal and written communication skills; ability to make presentations and communicate information professionally and clearly.
7. Some Spanish speaking ability a plus.
Salary and Benefits
Annual salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include flexible work schedule, health insurance, 2 weeks paid vacation after 6 months, paid sick leave, paid personal leave and 10 paid holidays per year.
