Indiana General Assembly Hiring Fiscal/Program Analyst

The Office of Fiscal and Management Analysis, a nonpartisan research and support staff to the Indiana General Assembly, is accepting applications for a fiscal/program analyst.

Duties and Responsibilities: The significant duties of an analyst for the Office of Fiscal and Management Analysis include the following. The analyst may be expected to:


(1) Develop statistical models and databases.

(2) Develop and provide in-service training and orientation for staff and legislators.

(3) Analyze proposed legislation for potential fiscal impact on state and local governments.

(4) Analyze programs administered by state administrative agencies through the use of statistical analysis and program evaluation.

(5) Serve in support of standing and interim legislative committees.


Minimum Qualifications: The skills and educational background that must be possessed by the successful candidate include the following:


(1) Possess a Ph.D., A.B.D., or Master's degree in public policy, public or business administration, economics, or a related field.

(2) Possess strong quantitative and analytical skills. The analyst should be proficient in statistics, economics, public finance, and policy analysis.

(3) Possess a willingness to expand expertise into various areas of discipline including taxation, human services, corrections, court matters, economic development, environmental matters, education, state and local government, public safety, transportation, and labor matters.

(4) Be able to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a manner which can clearly and efficiently convey relevant information to legislators, state administrators, and interested parties.

(5) Be proficient with word processing, spreadsheet preparation, and database applications.


Salary Range: Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
