About Farr Associates
Farr Associates is an architecture and planning firm in Chicago that is known nationally for creating sustainable, urban places. Within the firm there is an architecture studio and a planning studio. Work in the planning studio includes planning for neighborhoods, downtowns, and corridors; sustainability consulting; and form-based zoning codes.

Job Description
The Planning Intern will support the members of the planning studio with various tasks including file organization, creation of maps and diagrams, document editing, creation of presentation materials (including image preference surveys), and research. The work environment is fast-paced with short deadlines. The successful applicant must have excellent organization skills and attention to detail. The position is project-based and will depend on studio workload. Candidates must be available to work at least 16 hours per week, between 9am and 6pm. The hourly rate for this position is $10.00.

Job Qualifications
Applicants must be knowledgeable and have some experience with GIS and Adobe InDesign and must demonstrate the ability to draw maps and diagrams. Preference will be given to those with knowledge of the following programs: Vectorworks (or similar CAD program), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Google SketchUp. Graduate-level coursework in planning, landscape architecture, or a planning-related field OR a bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of direct job experience is required. Candidates with 1-2 years of experience in a professional environment are also preferred.
