Innovation Economist Position at DC Think Tank

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation-a Washington, DC think tank-is seeking to hire a policy analyst to lead a research program on economic policies to boost U.S. industrial competiveness. The ideal candidate understands economics, but is not wedded to neoclassical dogma. The candidate understands where markets work and where they don't when it comes to advancing productivity and innovation, and understands the role governments can play. While the position is advertised for a senior analyst, we are open to considering any qualified candidate, including someone with a freshly minted doctorate. This is a great position for someone who wants to play a key role shaping the national debate over innovation and competitiveness policies.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Develop and carry out a policy research program focusing on restoring U.S. economic competiveness, with a particular focus on tax and budget policies.
* Write policy reports, op eds, and other materials on competitiveness policies.
* Speak at forums, provide testimony and engage in other outreach efforts.
* Organize policy conferences, roundtables, and other events on U.S. competitiveness policy.

Qualifications Requirements:

* A doctorate in economics or related field or a Master's degree with at least 5 years experience.
* Excellent writing skills and ability to write for policy audiences.
* Ability to communicate results to both technical and non-technical audiences
* An understanding of and appreciation for "new-growth" theory (e.g., endogenous or evolutionary economics).

ITIF is a growing non-profit, non-partisan public policy think tank committed to articulating and advancing a pro-productivity and pro-innovation public policy agenda. We believe that innovation is central to spurring economic growth and addressing key societal challenges and that public policies should actively work to support innovation, productivity and economic competitiveness. ITIF works to help policy makers understand the critical importance of innovation and innovation policy. We produce publications, hold events, meet with policy makers, speak at forums and engage in other activities to shape innovation policy.
