Basic Function:
Work with Brookings Executive Education (BEE) Program Director to develop and conduct a wide variety of open enrollment and custom educational programs for business and government executives. Responsibilities include program/session direction and facilitation, program and issue research, agenda preparation, follow up with speakers and participants, and program logistics.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
55% Program Implementation and Logistics:
- Is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the educational program, and working on-site to manage logistics and to help resolve any problems that arise.
- With Senior Staff and outside partner organizations, assists in the evaluation of programs and development of recommendations to improve future programs.
- As appropriate, provides back-up for Senior Staff Members, accompanying groups to site visits and introducing guest speakers.
- Actively engages participants and solicits referrals for other BEE programs.
- As needed, oversees venue selection and reservations, arranges transportation if required, handles meal planning, and ensures proper approval of contracts for external vendors.
- Prepares and distributes participant information, including but not limited to, pre-agenda, BEE program policies, program books, name tags, tent cards, and certificates.
- Tracks program expenses against budget and keeps updated information on monies committed by the program.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
45% Program Development and Planning (under the direction of BEE Program Director):
- Identifies program speakers and research program topics for assigned programs.
- Facilitates sessions/programs as determined by Program Director.
- Prepares agendas and mailings, interacts with speakers and participants, participates in the development of promotional materials, and assures that financial obligations are in compliance with approved program budgets.
- Conducts research on new issue areas, speakers, and potential partner organizations.
- Keeps abreast of issue areas related to program assignments and business development priorities.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree (Masters Preferred) in Government, Public Policy, or Political Science.
- 4 years experience in Government or Public Affairs.
- Interest in executive education and history a plus.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Excellent written and oral communications skills; strong customer service orientation; resourceful and detail oriented; good problem solving skills; ability to work effectively both independently and in teams; and strong computer-based knowledge.
- Must be comfortable with MS Office, email, and collaborative software.
